Description of Project:
Completed in the summer of 2016, the new Gilmer County Elementary School consolidated three existing aging elementary schools into one PK-6 centrally located facility near downtown Glenville WV.
This project was designed and constructed utilizing sustainable principals and is received LEED Silver Certification. The building walls were constructed utilizing an Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) system to improve the thermal and acoustical value of the interior spaces. The white roofing membrane helps reflect heat which will decrease the interior air conditioning requirements as well as reduce heat island effect. Other sustainable features include water use reduction, daylighting, enhanced indoor air quality, and a green cleaning program. The building consists of twenty classrooms with separate art and music classrooms along with a full size gymnasium.
The building also includes a medical and dental clinic funded by the Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center Inc.
